The weekend of April 12th will go down in history as a strong opening for the dystopian title, Civil War. Earning over $25M at the box office and claiming 33% of all ticket sales, Civil War impressed both critics and audiences. The film received an 82% critic and 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It's not often that the public and critics align so closely on a film, but this movie is clearly an exception.

Godzilla x Kong continued to roar at our number two spot, still earning over $15M in its third weekend and claiming 18% of all ticket sales.

A green surprise was the re-release of Shrek 2, the 2004 Dreamworks classic. It was its 20th anniversary and people weren't shy about attending the film. The married ogres and talking donkey amassed an impressive $1.45M—that's not bad for a twenty-year-old movie! It bested the premiering (and well-reviewed) golf movie, The Long Game.

Looking ahead:
How will Abigail, a reimagining of the 1936 film Dracula's Daughter, perform this weekend?
